Specialty: Teens
Are you a teen who's having trouble dealing with things in your
life? Or are you a parent who is worried about your teenage
son or daughter? The teenage years can be some of the most
exciting and most difficult years for children and their parents
to navigate through. Children are trying to figure out how to
transition into more independence and often don't do this very
gracefully. Parents are trying to let their children grow up but
often get scared of what they see their child struggling with or
getting involved in.
I work with two types of teenagers: those who are using
risky behavior as a way of rebelling against childhood and
those who are having a difficult time learning how to become
independent. The first group of teens may be exhibiting
behavior such as anger, drug/alcohol use, cutting, running
away or others. The second group of teens may be overly
shy, have trouble fitting in with their peers, sad, depressed or
easily influenced by dominant friends.
If your teenager fits into one of these two groups and you are
looking for guidance on how to help them better transition into
the young adult years, I can help. I have a lot of experience
working with young people. Many times teenagers need an
adult to talk to who isn't their parent, this is very normal.
Teens feel very understood by me which helps them to be
comfortable in sharing their feelings. I help them look at their
behavior and connect it to emotions that they are unaware of.
Most teens need help understanding why they are feeling and
acting the way they are. I also help parents understand what
their child is going through and what type of support and
boundaries their child may need from them in order to
successfully go through this important transition period in life.
